WHAT IS THE MULTIDIMENSIONAL HEALING CENTER?

Catherine O'Connell MD
The MultiDimensional Healing Center of Sarasota FL was founded by
Catherine O'Connell MD, a Board Certified Physician with Sarasota Memorial Hospital privileges, to promote patient oriented medicine that takes into account the whole person. It  is a partnership between Doctor and Patient. The Center supports MultiDimensional Healing which is the practice of Integrative Medicine...

All factors that  influence a patient's health, wellness, and disease are taken into consideration, which include a patient's body, mind & spirit, lifestyle and community. Every appropriate therapy is used, both conventional and alternative, to promote the body's innate healing response. It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship between Doctor and Patient. It combines conventional medicine and alternative approaches to assist in the complete healing of the patient.

"Good medicine is based in good science and is open to new ways of thinking. Alongside the idea of treatment, the broader concepts of promoting health and preventing disease are very important."

 WHAT DO WE DO?

 Family Medical Services
We are a traditional Family Practice office with an Integrative Medicine orientation, treating the whole family, starting at age 12. We do routine physical examinations including gynecological services such as pap smears and birth control management in women, and we take care of acute and chronic illnesses. We take most medical insurances and bill insurance companies for patients.

In addition to traditional Family Practice we include an Integrative approach as appropriate with each patient, making recommendations for lifestyle changes, which may include weight management, hormone balancing, supplements, and counseling as needed.

 Weight Loss & Management
Weight management is an important key to lifestyle changes. We work together with the patient as a team and find a program and approach that is the best fit for the patient's needs at the time. I have several very successful programs which uses meal replacements and are very safe and effective methods of achieving optimal health.

  Anti-Aging Resources
Hormone therapy is part of anti-aging. We carry a number of Supplements that are recommended, as well as a scanner device which can measure antioxidant levels in the body as seen on Dr. Oz...

Hormone Balancing
Hormone balancing is very important at any age, especially in women with fluctuating hormones throughout life and the challenges this brings to the individual, from the teenage girl with her early menstrual onset to women at the other end of the spectrum with the onset of menopause. We use standard hormone therapy and also bioidentical hormone therapy. Men are not excluded! They too have changes in testosterone levels which cause a variety of problems which we can address.

Prevention
Knowing your antioxidant level is as important as knowing your cholesterol levels, or your blood pressure. Current medical literature suggests that antioxidants can decrease your risk of cancer, heart disease, and complications related to diabetes. We can now measure your antioxidant levels with  the Pharmanex Antioxidant Laser Scanner.

Supplements
Supplements may be a useful way to get nutrients we might otherwise be lacking. The needs of individuals vary greatly and we can guide you  in making choices about what supplements to take.
